Oz Cooper is a teacher and director of the Whodat Steppers, an organization that is dedicated to the introducing, promoting, teaching and supporting the Urban Partner Dance community in New Orleans, LA.
Oswald “Oz” Cooper is a native New Orleanian, a McDonogh #35 & Delgado Community College, graduate, Navy Veteran and a civil servant. He is a life long dancer and Saint fan. He was a designated Master Training Specialist in the Navy and certified by Golden State Dance Teachers Association (GSDTA), as Dance Instructor, in March 2012. He combined his greatest passions, dancing & the Saints, with his love for learning/sharing knowledge and his purpose, to serve humanity, by teaching urban swing dance (Chicago Steppin, Detroit Ballroom, Dallas Fort Worth Swing, Houston 2 Step, Hand Dance) in New Orleans as Who Dat Steppers.
Who Dat Steppers was founded in June of 2010 & was incorporated in Louisiana, July 25, 2011 as an LLC, by Oswald (Oz) Cooper. This organization is dedicated to the introducing, promoting, teaching and establishing an Urban Partner Dance community in New Orleans, LA.
The Urban Swing Dance Institute was establish in 2015. It was incorporated in the state of Louisiana as The Urban Partner Dance Preservation & Standardization Institute, L3C. It was envisioned as a formal institution of learning, to preserve the history of and elevate two of America’s Original art forms (Jazz & Swing Dancing), to their rightful place among other traditional & classical arts forms such as Ballet, Traditional Ballroom & Latin Dances, as major contributions to American and World culture.
